There is photography of the Brotherhood of Sorrow covering over a third of their three hundred year history. Black and white pictures from the 19th century show the float of the Virgin of Sorrow as being very similar to the present day. The most recent photographs show scenes such as the penitential procession of 2008 in the cathedral. In between these two examples are the first hand-kissing ceremonies, innocently austere assemblies; those of the canonical coronation, a milestone in the city's recent history; or those others that are truly regal affairs, justifiably holding the title of the Lady of Cordova.
